I have a B.A. degree (Psych)(Unisa), a diploma in Logo-therapy (Unisa), and a grad. Coaching certificate (S.A.C.A.P.)
-
I started studying for a degree after my children left home. This was a decision that expanded my own knowledge and enabled me to reach out and share what I have learned with others.
-
I spent many years as a counselor in an organization that offers help and support to women in destructive relationships. Here I learned that the human spirit is strong enough to overcome even the largest of obstacles, if the will to do so is present.
-
After a confrontation with cancer, resulting in a mastectomy, I learned that lifestyle plays an important role in the development of many diseases, and that the risk of developing nutrition induced cancers such as breast-, colon-, and stomach cancer could be minimized by changing ones eating behaviors.
-
In addition I have learned that Chronic Diseases of Lifestyle are a group of diseases that share similar risk factors as a result of exposure, over many years, to unhealthy diets, lack of exercise, stress and smoking. Lifestyle diseases cause high mortality rates due to strokes, heart attacks, certain cancers, etc. Lifestyle diseases are preventable and for the past four years I have been working in the weight-loss industry where I teach individuals to change destructive lifestyle behaviour into health promoting behaviour.
-
I have learned that when we start managing our health; not only on a physical level, but also on a psychological and spiritual level, balance and wellness occurs.
-
I believe that it is the birthright as well as the responsibility of each individual to strive to reclaim and maintain optimal wellness.
